The Clements Checklist of Birds of the World 6th Edition in Excel (updated and modified)

Thanks to Don Lewis, Lafayette, CA a typing error was detected in the English names. The 'Ferruginous' was mistyped as 'Ferruginosus'. The file and the download link was updated. Now the corrected name appear in every 'Ferruginous' species. :)

The Clements Checklist of Birds of the World 6th Edition in Excel (updated)

Many of you requested my self made checklist of the birds of the world following the popular nomenclature made by the late James F. Clements. The idea was to keep my life and country lists in an continuously updated bird list in MS Excel utilizing its strong Pivot Table functions for statistics. Here I share the basic file including all the birds of the world in a species level. In the next coming days I will upload the complete list with subspecies as well. For those who would like to have the Pivot Table enabled bird list with auto count of your records I will share some tutorial how to manage it by yourself (adding countries, sites, trips etc). Midwinter counts of wildfowl: Danube River Bratislava (Gutor)-Gabcikovo (Bős), Slovakia

This weekend is dedicated for the midwinter counts of wildfowl and other waterbirds all over Europe coordinated by Wetlands Insternational. As local guys covered most of the part of the wetlands of our county I selected to have a look at the upper section of river Danube. The weather was somehow better than on the previous days with some sun. The incredibly large number of birds made this trip impressive./Ez a hétvége a Wetlands International által koordinált télközépi vízimadárszámlálások hétvégéje volt Európa-szerte. Mivel a helyi madarászok a megyei vizes élőhelyeinket számolták le, ezért én a Duna felső szakaszát választottam. Az időjárás némileg jobb volt, mint a korábbi napokban. A madarak nagy száma lenyűgözővé tette ezt a napot. Office window birding again

Around midday another large flock of Fieldfare was landing very near my home office window. I counted 8 Redwings among them. Redwings are regular in every winter but in low numbers only. I haven't seen as many in a thrush-flock as today.

I have been sitting at my desk and looked through the window when a larger flock of birds appeared nearby our house. It was about 100 Fieldfares and 5 Bohemian Waxwings in the flock followed by a female Eurasian Sparrowhawk. A few minutes later a Black Woodpecker flew over the houses close to my home./Az íróasztalom mellett ülve az imént láttam egy kb 100-as fenyőrigó csapatot köztük 5 csonttollúval, melyet egy tojó karvaly követett. Nemsokkal ezután egy fekete harkály repül át a házunk mellett.
